The Joseph Project

Dear Friends,

Last year I introduced you to the Joseph Project, an effort to prevent a deficit in our church budget, and your response was amazing. By God’s grace and your generous giving, we were able to finish 2009 on budget.

Unfortunately, the economy has not improved as quickly as we all hoped and giving has again been significantly affected in the church. We have maintained the 20% cuts we made to our ministry budget in ‘09 but we are anticipating having to make more reductions.

Just as Joseph thoughtfully stored up and prepared for tough times in Egypt, the Joseph Project is our attempt to continue advancing the kingdom during this difficult season. The steps of the Joseph Project are:

1. Ask those who are blessed with work to prayerfully give 1% more than they are regularly giving. If we did this, we would easily balance our budget and prevent a deficit in 2010. Click here to GIVE TO THE JOSEPH PROJECT.

2. Recruit the entire church in prayer, praying daily for each other’s needs.

3. Continue our Benevolence Program which offers short-term financial assistance to individuals and families in need in our church.

4. Offer career workshops and seminars through our Career Transitions Ministry including weekly Monday night career search coaching sessions and periodic job fairs. Click here for info on CAREER TRANSITIONS.

5. Offer the Financial Peace University series periodically to help individuals and families get out of date and transform their financial future. Visit the Marriage & Family page for upcoming class dates or contact Barbara Hall, 760.929.0029 x137 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

These are challenging times but we know our mighty, loving God is in control. Tough times turn many people to God so this is not a time to back down. This is an opportunity to rise up and care for the church and see God provide as he did in the days of Joseph.

Thanks for giving and praying with me.
